The below biography was extracted from Lest We Forget, a family history written in 1983 and 1984 by Lucille “Tippy” Rebecca Kyle Harr, and updated in 2010 by Debra Harr.

Lucetta Roby was the daughter of Jeremiah and Charlotte Griffith Roby and was born on January 10, 1839.

Hester Harr Yokum was named for both grandmothers—Hester Lucetta Harr.

She is buried in the Cortland Cemetery in Canaan Valley.

In the history of Davis and Canaan Valley by Mott, Aaron Roby was born in Ireland. Jacob and Molly Vance Roby came from Indiana to Canaan Valley in 1918. Jacob was born in 1875, and died in 1929. Lucetta was the oldest of all the Robys listed; born 1839, died 1919.

Debs was only 5, but remembers having attended the funeral and burial.
